Aug 09, 2018  The Samsung T5 software reports that the external SSD is disconnected while the device is connected. More Less MacBook Pro, macOS High Sierra (10.13.6), Samsung T5 external SSD. I just received this response from Samsung today after over a week of emailing back and forth with their support team to get my T5 and 1.6.6 SSD software working an a mac: 'Thank you for clarifying that it is identified within Full Disk Access. From here it appears that the Software it requires to identify the drive.

  1. However, the software that comes with it should not be installed on a Mac. It caused all sorts of problems and kept disconnecting the Samsung SSD from my 2017 MacBook Pro. I ended up having to copy all the files back to my Mac, uninstalling the software and drivers, and reformatting the Samsung SSD as Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

Solution:

Open System Preferences

Click on Security & Privacy

Watch the General tab

Connect the Samsung T5 external SSD

Using Finder, click on the 'Applications' folder.

Move the Samsung T5 software 'SamsungPortableSSD' to the trash.

Empty the trash.

Using finder, under Devices, click on the Samsung_T5 and notice the partition with the Samsung T5 software.

Copy the Samsung software 'SamsungPortableSSD' over to the 'Applications' folder.

Notice under 'Security & Privacy', some notes appear in the bottom half of the window.

Click on the padlock to unlock.

Click on the notice about the software not allowed.

Click in the all empty check boxes to approve the software. (one of them should be Samsung)
