I saw lots of posts about the AOC external monitor not working. I had to tinker with it a bit and I finally figured it out.

Install the USB Graphic software first before connecting the USB monitor to your computer. Double click on Setup.exe. The Windows User Account Control window opens (if enabled in the OS). 1. Download the latest driver from http://www.displaylink.com/downloads/file?id=1085
2. Ensure that you download the driver for your specific operating system.

- DisplayLink will automatically install the AOC USB Monitor. The DisplayLink software end user license agreement windows opens (see above). Click I Accept. The DisplayLink USB Graphics software installs, without notification that it has completed.
3. Restart your computer.

4. After installation, macOS may require the DisplayLink system extension to be enabled in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> General. Click on Allow and restart the system.
